BIO

Hi!

My name is Kate and I am a PhD candidate in Theatre at Wayne State University. My dissertation study (what I've been plugging away at for the last four years) is on post-9/11 theatrical exploration of re-integration and home through analysis and performance of contemporary plays (three of the productions listed under directing above). I've been performing and directing for the past 12 years. Some of my favorite performances include: Juliet, Elizabeth Proctor, Rosalind, Jane Eyre, and Patient in 4.48 Psychosis.

I have been teaching college for the last six years and love working with creative students!

Some of my favorite pet projects include writing (poetry and my novel about Persephone, plays and morning pages), music (guitar and piano!), reading (classics and contemporary), scholarly studies in liminality/ephemerality/self and other, and blogging about my adventures!

Most recently I co-founded the Underground Theatre at the Studio and directed Oohrah! and Three Sisters for its inaugural summer season. I am currently thrilled to be moving into the Young Fenix House in the Eastern Market District of Detroit and working on a production of Comedy of Errors as well as a production of the Seagull.

In the coming year with Young Fenix Fellowship, I will be offering studies in:
